Project: Whimsical

back in business

Man it's been a while since this site was at its full potential ! And I have been B.U.S.Y behind the scenes.

Since my second speech, the Autism Decal has been:

- featured in another copy of the Georgia Sheriff's Association magazine

- added to the Georgia Public Safety Training Center's Autism and De-escalation online course

- introduced to a city in North Carolina (and they used my business name when announcing them!)

I also went through an 80-hour course to become a POST-certified General Instructor in October. For those of you who don't speak law enforcement acronyms, that means that the governing body over law enforcement personnel now allows me to teach on general topics. And, since I'm the creator of the First Responder Autism Decal, I'm automatically the subject expert. So now I can teach on it to other first responders, and give them credit for training hours, which we have to maintain a certain number of each year! That course is known to be one of the most difficult courses in law enforcement training, and it's definitely not for the weak. I'm so thankful that my department allowed me to be out-of-the-office for two and a half weeks for this course. And I'm thankful for my husband holding the house down while I was consumed with lesson planning the whole second week.

Lastly - MY TRADEMARK WAS APPROVED !!! After one year and three months of anxious waiting, frantic emails to my representative, feverishly checking my email for months, and entirely more money than I expected to spend, I have been approved. That said, as of today, my website is back to its full glory, and I'm allowed to promote my decal again! Merry [early] Christmas to me?! :D

[[ If you've read this far, thanks for being here, thanks for going on this wild ride with me, or thanks for checking me out for the first time! Whichever shoe fits best, lace it up and rock it because I appreciate you for it! Today, I'm a happy girl, I'm proud of what I've accomplished since August of 2019, and I can't wait to see where we go from here! ]]
